The New Yorker’s Emily Nussbaum says Cyrus and James on Scandal (10 p.m. Thu., on ABC) are “the best gay couple on television.” Really? Should I watch it for that reason alone? Last time I tried, the show just seemed kinda cheesy. One guy is a presidential staffer, the other an investigative journalist.
Personally, as far as gay couples go, I’m enjoying “the Davids” in Jane Smiley’s 2003 novel, Good Faith. These guys are rich home renovators. Which seems far more relatable.
